Space Station Oahu

Currently in Hawaii for a business trip. I found it mildly amusing to compare the islands with a small, distant space colony, full of weird characters and a unique culture. Considering where the islands lie in the mid-Pacific ocean, the comparison is much more appropriate when you consider how isolated they were when they were “discovered” by Capt Cook.

I also learned an great Hawaiian word (thanks, NPR!): “Aka” — which means “shadow” — appropriate word for the 2nd of February, which is Groundhog Day.
